Improving access to prevention of mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus (PMTCT HBV) among pregnant women and women of childbearing age is a CFID initiative sponsored by TY Danjuma Foundation. The project is aimed at the prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of Hepatitis B virus (PMTCT HBV) among pregnant women and women of childbearing age and capacity building of Healthcare workers (HCW) in Sardauna local government area of Taraba State. This can be achieved by implementing the recent WHO guidelines on PMTCT HBV, 2020;

use of antiviral prophylaxis among positive pregnant women/HBV coinfection

HBeAg testing in areas where HBV DNA test is not available

the birth-dose vaccination within 24 hours of delivery.
This initiative includes;

free community-based testing/screening of HBV/HCV

free birth-dose vaccine within 24 hours of delivery and subsequent dose vaccine for babies and linkage to care.
