Executive Summary
In 2024, the Centre for Initiative Development (CFID) advanced its mission to combat HIV/AIDS in Taraba State, Nigeria, through interventions aligned with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and UNAIDS 95/95/95 targets. We tested 148,340 individuals, linked 97% of newly diagnosed cases to care within one month, and achieved 98% viral suppression among those on antiretroviral therapy (ART). Challenges like stigma and gaps in reaching certain populations were addressed with innovative solutions, including the CFID Care Mobile App and community engagement. This report details our achievements, challenges, and strategies to enhance person-centered HIV care.

Introduction
In 2024, CFID intensified its efforts to address the HIV epidemic in Taraba State, guided by WHO’s consolidated guidelines and the UNAIDS 95/95/95 targets: 95% of PLHIV knowing their status, 95% of those diagnosed receiving ART, and 95% of those on ART achieving viral suppression. Our programs emphasized equitable access, community-based care, and stigma reduction to ensure quality, person-centered services for all, including key populations.
Program Overview
CFID’s 2024 interventions included:
- HIV Testing Services (HTS): Expanded rapid diagnostic tests, distribution of self-testing kits, and community-based testing.
- Linkage to Care: Rapid ART initiation and peer navigation for newly diagnosed individuals.
- Retention in Care: Adherence support via peer counseling and community health workers.
- Person-Centred Approaches: Non-stigmatising, culturally competent care for key populations.
